Cottage is situated in the heart of Biddenden village, surrounded
by the beauty of the Kentish Wealden countryside. The High Street,
itself described as "very short and very perfect", is lined with
timber-framed houses.
Built at a time when Biddenden was the centre of a rich woollen
and weaving community, it is watched over by the Church of "All
Saints", which has its origins in the thirteenth century, the clock
being added in 1878.
The unique village sign shows the famous "Biddenden Maids", siamese
twins born around 1100 A.D. and who survived for thirty years. The
"Bread and Cheese" charity founded by them is still in existence
at the present time.
